Oyster Bay High School seniors Adrian Kim and Brandon Antonetti have been named National Merit Finalists, advancing to the final stage of the prestigious scholarship competition hosted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The two students were originally recognized as semi-finalists in September and recently received notification of their promotion to finalist status.
To achieve this distinction, National Merit Finalists must meet rigorous academic criteria. They must confirm their high PSAT scores with strong SAT performance, maintain an outstanding academic record and receive a recommendation from a high school official. Additionally, finalists submit a comprehensive application detailing their coursework, grades, extracurricular and volunteer activities, and a personal essay.
Out of approximately 16,000 semi-finalists nationwide, around 15,000 students advance to finalist standing. All finalists receive a Certificate of Merit in recognition of their exceptional academic performance and are eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarship awards.
Adrian plans to study business or economics in college, while Brandon aspires to pursue a medical degree specializing in internal medicine.
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District is incredibly proud of Adrian and Brandon’s achievements and wishes them the best in the final stage of the competition.
