World Language Honor Societies

Purpose

The purpose of the World Language Honor Societies is to recognize high achievement in Spanish, French and American Sign Language by students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in the language studies. As a member of the National Society, you will be part of a variety of cultural activities throughout the school year in order to enhance your cultural experience.

 

Qualification of Membership

  • Students must be enrolled in the second semester of the language class as a Sophomore or Junior.
  • Students must have a cumulative average of 90 in World Languages for the past 3 semesters.
    • If you are currently enrolled in a level 3 language class, you must have an average of 90 in your first semester of level 3 and a 90 or above in level 2 of the same language.
    • If you are currently in level 4, you must have an average of 90 for your first semester of level 4 and a 90 or above in level 3 of the same language.
  • Students must have an overall GPA of 85 or above (unweighted).
  • Eligible candidates are subject to rejection due to lack of character as a result of cuts, discipline referrals or teachers’ recommendations.
