Dear Families,
This is a very exciting time of year for our students at Oyster Bay High School. Our seniors are finalizing their post-secondary plans, and our underclassmen are getting ready for year-end final and Regent’s examinations. Prom plans are underway for many, and there are numerous celebratory events recognizing the achievements of our students academically and athletically taking place in the next month or so.
As we near the final weeks of the school year, it is important to be reminded of our expectations for our students:
As the weather gets warmer, it is important to once again remind students and their families that the following clothing is prohibited as they are not conducive to a positive learning environment:
- Pajamas
- Excessively short shorts
- Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops and see through blouses
- Crop tops
- Visible undergarments
Students who violate the student dress code shall be required to modify their appearance by covering or removing the offending item(s). We are prepared to offer students replacement shirts and athletic shorts in the event their clothing is deemed inappropriate. Students who refuse to change may be subject to disciplinary consequences.
Students are expected to attend all of their classes. Cutting is an illegal absence from class and is subject to disciplinary consequences including, but not limited to loss of course credit, inability to attend the senior BBQ, and/or the prom. All students are expected to arrive to class on time as there are also consequences for those that are inexcusably late to class.
We look forward to a smooth year-end with the cooperation of our students and their families. We hope to see many of you on June 25 as we proudly celebrate the Class of 2017 with their families and friends!
Very truly yours,
Sharon Lasher
