Global History I
This sequence is a two-year global history program based upon the New York State Social Studies Standards. These courses use a chronological format and are organized around significant themes and concepts. Students study various Global History eras during the two-year program. Using reference materials, maps, documents, cartoons, video clips, and other materials, teachers encourage students to think and write critically, develop a global perspective of world history, and define culture and civilization from the lens of a social scientist. Key concepts/themes such as imperialism, nationalism and interdependence are emphasized. All students take the Global History and Geography Regents exam at the end of the second year. A passing score on this examination is a requirement for graduation.
