Dr. Maria Kim

Dr. Kim joined the faculty of Oyster Bay High School after teaching for seven years in the New York City Public Schools. She currently teaches English 11H, English 12, and English Lab. Dr. Kim received her bachelor's degree in English from Binghamton University, master's degrees in English education from Queens College and in TESOL from Hunter College, and a doctorate in literacy studies from Hofstra University.  She enjoys hiking, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. Dr. Kim, whose current favorite book is Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, strives to instill in students a love for writing as well as an openness and respect for multiple perspectives in all areas of literacy.
