A Shared Reading Experience!
Themes of diversity, inclusion, kindness and friendship echoed through the James H. Vernon School library as the novel Wishtree by Katherine Applegate was discussed at Dr. Seinfeld's 13th Community Book Club, Nov. 21. Vernon School created its own wish tree and book club participants had the opportunity to add their wishes to it as one of the culminating activities. Participants also completed a "Welcome Wall" and took the "Welcome Pledge" as ways to express their support for inclusiion.

Extending the Experience
The book club, generally open to students in third grade and up, was for the first time introduced to second graders with a tailored version called A Taste of Dr. Seinfeld's Community Book Club. The event was hosted by Roosevelt Elementary School Library Media Specialist Roseann Davidson and Literacy Coach Chris Bartell to get students excited about the opportunity of participating next year.
