The Oyster Bay East Norwich Board of Education held its monthly Work Session on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 pm in the OBHS Library.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laura Seinfeld introduced the Board and Community to the Social Studies teacher who will replace Mr. Bruce Levorchick upon his retirement. Ms. Lauren Harnick comes to Oyster Bay with 8 years of teaching experience and a background in the Law.
The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Mr. Stephen Valente presented a review of the proposed Expenditure Budget for 2016-2017. The good news is that there is no gap between the expenditure and revenue portions of the budget. The estimated tax levy increase is 0.15% which is the lowest budget to budget increase in the past 17 years. The Budget Vote and Trustee Elections will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at Oyster Bay High School from 7 am to 9 pm.
The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 7 pm in the OBHS Library. The 2016-2017 Budget will be adopted at that meeting. All are welcome.
