The Oyster Bay East Norwich Board of Education held its monthly Work Session on Tuesday, March 1 at 7 pm in the OBHS Library.
The Supervisor for Science and Technology, Ms. Janna Ostroff, began the meeting with and update of instructional technology in the OBEN schools. Students from all three schools were on hand to show Board members different areas of technology that they are working on in class.
The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Mr. Stephen Valente presented a breakdown of the proposed Expenditure Budget for 2016-2017. Although the State has mandated a 0.15% tax levy cap for OBEN schools, Mr. Valente is confident that the District can close the budget gap without cutting any educational programs. The State will not let the District know the State Aid figures for next year until after the New York State Budget is decided on April 1.
The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 pm in the OBHS Library. Mr. Valente will talk about the Revenue Budget and the Capital Projects will be discussed. All-County Artists and outstanding Winter Season Athletes will be honored. All are welcome.
