Volunteer Opportunity with the North Shore Land Alliance
The North Shore Land Alliance is looking for Oyster Bay High School students who are interested in earning service hours by becoming a weekly volunteer or volunteering for one of their events. Interested students must register by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to get additional information regarding the specific volunteer event or volunteer opportunity.
The North Shore Land Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit land trust formed to protect and preserve, in perpetuity, the green spaces, farmlands, wetlands, groundwater and historical sites of Long Island's north shore for the enhancement of quality of life and benefit of future generations. Since 2003, the North Shore Land Alliance has been instrumental in the protection of more than 1,200 acres of land featuring a variety of habitats such as fields, forests, and wetlands. The alliance rely on volunteers to help protect and maintain its preserves. They are located in Planting Fields Arboretum State Park, 1395 Planting Fields Road, Oyster Bay, and have preserves all throughout the Oyster Bay area. Volunteer Opportunity for NYS Senator James Gaughran's Youth Advisory Board
New York State Senator James Gaughran's office (D-5th District) is looking to form a Youth Advisory Board which would allow younger individuals to get more involved in the legislative process. The 5th Senate District includes the northern portions of the Towns of Oyster Bay and Huntington and the City of Glen Cover. The goal of the Youth Advisory Board is to create a platform in which students can discuss and provide feedback on legislation currently being drafted as well as on broader community issues.
