    Thirteen staff members will be saying goodbye to the District as they join the ranks of retirees who have impacted our students in tremendous ways. During a recent retirement celebration at the June 18th Board of Education meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laura Seinfeld expressed her sincere appreciation for their service, noting that, toghether, the 13 retirees had a combined service of 365 years, an average of 28 years per person! Congratulations and best wishes to:

    • Johanna Canonica, Assistant Director of Special Services, 30 years of service
    • Pedro Diez, Oyster Bay High School custodian, 32 years of service
    • Heidi Gross, Oyster Bay High School science teacher, 36 years of service
    • Diane Hannah, Buildings and Grounds Principal Clerk, 32 years of service
    • Deborah Hom, Oyster Bay High School special education teacher, 26 years of service
    • Maryellen Kerr, Roosevelt Elementary School special education teacher, 30 years of service
    • Roberta Kosak, Typist Clerk, Oyster Bay High School Guidance, 19 years of service
    • Nina Koumoulis, Vernon School teacher assistant, 26 years of service
    • Scott Lyle, Oyster Bay High School head custodian, 30 years of service
    • Kevin McCarthy, Oyster Bay High School special education teacher, 28 years of service
    • Liliana Policano, Supervisor for Languages Other Than English (LOTE)/English as a New Language (ENL), 15 years of service
    • Mary Samuels, Vernon School elementary teacher, 23 years of service
    • Antonia Woodman, Oyster Bay High School home economics teacher, 38 years of service

    James H. Vernon School 6th graders moved up to 7th grade on June, 24 during a ceremony that reflected on their journey, showcased the many ways in which they have grown, and built excitement for what's in store when they begin their middle level years at Oyster Bay High School.
