Cheer on the Baymen at Homecoming, Oct. 20
Continued from cover
“Pride in our schools, our athletics and our community all come together at Homecoming,” said Oyster Bay High School Athletic Director Mr. Kevin Trentowski. “Many thanks to the Booster Club, the Student Council and the student body for making it a great event every year.”
Leading up to the big game, students and staff have been pumping up the excitement during Spirit Week, Oct 15-19. School counselors Ms. Danielle Urtheil and Ms. Deanna Cali, who coordinate the event, planned a theme for each day of the week, including Pajama Day, Twinning Day, Patriotic Day, Throwback Thursday and Color Day. A bulletin board competition took place early in the week. During Friday's pep rally, each class wore a different color and debuted its lip sync performance, and coaches introduced the varsity and junior varsity athletic teams, as well as middle level teams. The results of the lip sync contest were: seniors, first place; juniors, second place; freshmen, third place; and sophomores, fourth place. Students are also being judged on their floats, banners, bulletin board designs and charitable fundraising efforts. Classes are participating in a fundraising campaign for the Cure Starts Now Foundation to support pediatric cancer research.
