Security Tightens Throughout District
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District continues to be ahead of the curve when it comes to safety and security, according to District administrators. Working with the District Safety Team and the Nassau County Police Department’s Division of Homeland Security, they are moving forward with new measures to keep students and staff safe.
With security vestibules and visitor management systems running smoothly by security personnel in each building — an initiative that was implemented last year — the District is in the process of installing uniform classroom door locks district-wide.
Reading Rocks at Roosevelt School
There was a whole lot of celebrating going on at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School — all in the name of reading. An in-house assembly called Roosevelt Rockers had teachers and administrators lip syncing to popular rock songs, and students dancing and playing with blow-up instruments. The event celebrated the reading efforts of 1st and 2nd grade students over the summer, and pumped them up to continue their reading success throughout the school year.
Teachers and administrators dressed the part with tie-dye T-shirts, light-up glasses and wild-looking wigs.
