The facility opened for instruction the first week of school, complete with state-of-the art equipment for students and with rave reviews from faculty and students, alike.

Praised for his accomplishments in his former role, Dr. Rufa carries his boundless energy and contagious enthusiasm to his new post, saying, “I hope to guide and support students in a way that enables them to see something in themselves they may not see yet.”

A collaborator and effective listener, Dr. Rufa has led groups and committees to improve instruction for students and elevate the District as a whole. Prior to joining the District in 2012, he worked for six years as a teacher and then a music department chair in the Levittown School District.

A continual learner, he recently earned his Doctorate in School Leadership and Education Policy from Hofstra University. He also received a Bachelor of Music Education from The Crane School of Music, State University of New York at Potsdam; a Master of Music, Performance, from the Boston Conservatory; and a Master of Science in School Administration from Touro College.
