Join Us for Magic to Do, a Musical Revue, Nov. 17
Broadway’s “glitz and glitter” is coming to the Vernon School, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. when the Oyster Bay High School Fine and Performing Arts Department presents its 7th and 8th grade musical revue titled Magic to Do.
The show, conceived by music teacher Ms. Melissa Kozee and director Mr. Kerry Prep, will have you dancing in your seats as students perform choreographed show tunes from some of the most popular musicals throughout the years. Take the journey with them down the “great white way” as they perform hits from Pippin, Hairspray, Sweet Charity, and many more.
Reserve tickets by emailing OBHSTheater@obenschools.org. Adult tickets are $10.00 and student tickets are $8.00. All tickets are paid for at the door with cash or check payable to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Extra Curricular Activities Fund.
“Our 7th and 8th graders have been working hard on this production and have grown so much technically and musically over the past several weeks,” said Mr. Peter Rufa, K-12 Fine and Performing Arts Supervisor and Producer of the show. “I’m sure I speak for many when I say I look forward to watching them perform for years to come on the Oyster Bay High School stage!”
Students have been rehearsing under the guidance of director Mr. Kerry Prep, who has coached them on their delivery of both their monologues and songs; choreographer Ms. Whitney Stone, who created the staging and dance sequences; and vocal director Ms. Kozee, who has spent countless hours teaching the cast their music.
“The creative team has worked so hard to prepare this year’s cast for their production,” Mr. Rufa added. “I’m confident this will be our best performance yet!”
The cast includes Aurora Aschettino, Jenna Cody, Ryan Capone, Dante Castellano, Jaiya Chetram, Destini Gaeckler, Alexa Grassi, Crystal Harding, Guancheng Liu, Ian Lubin, Chris McKenna, Laura McKevitt, Leigh Nathan, Claudia Paolucci, Leo Rezza and Mary Vera.
Stage crew members, under the direction of Assistant Producer Maria Randazzo, consists of Tamaia Brown, Ella Cortes, Julia Cutajar, Julianna Goldman, Rebecca Keller, Victoria Lattanzio, Maria McKevitt, Neal Mehta, Karina Paone, Valentina Pezzelato, Sabrina Rezk, Jeffrey Vasquez, Emily Wiesenfeld and Joycelin Wong.
Members of the Pit Band include Ms. Kozee on piano, Mr. Edmund Chiarello on percussion and Ms. Adrianna Schaefer on bass. Lighting and sound is being provided by Glen Scott Designs.
