• Research in the Social Sciences

This self-guided course allows students to dig deeper into a historical topic of their choosing. Every year, National History Day sponsors a contest in which they provide a theme and students perform research on a topic of their choosing connected to that theme. For the 2016-2017 school year, the theme is “Taking a Stand”. Students are able to work independently or in groups and can deliver their research through one of four mediums: traditional paper, website, exhibit, or performance. This course will allow students to take a topic that interests them and do authentic research using primary and secondary sources. Prizes and scholarship money are awarded to those who place in the National History Day National Competition.
