Dr. Deirdre Faughey
Dr. Faughey teaches College English and College Essay Writing. She attended Bard College, where she majored in literature and creative writing, and earned a master's degree in English education and a doctorate in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Faughey taught high school English at the Queens High School for the Sciences and at North Shore High School. She has also taught graduate-level courses in literacy instruction and school change at Hunter College and Teachers College. While earning her doctorate, she worked as an education researcher for the National Center for the Restructuring of Education, Schools and Teaching (NCREST) at Teachers College, and as a Research and Design Facilitator for a non-profit organization working with NYC high schools. She is also the advisor for Quill & Scroll and Reflections, OBHS's yearbook. Dr. Faughey is committed to building classroom communities where all students feel welcome and find opportunities to grow and learn as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
