Oyster Bay High School's National Merit Scholarship Finalist and Cancer Researchers
Owen McEvoy, who was selected from the Oyster Bay High School (OBHS) Class of 2017 as a semifinalist, found out this spring that he earned finalist status. Mr. McEvoy is in the enviable position of trying to decide among several colleges that have accepted him. He plans on studying Science, Engineering and Biological Sciences in college. Owen is a member of the National Honor Society, the Interact Club and International Club at OBHS. He has served as Treasurer of the Student Council and Vice President of the Foreign Language Honor Society. Owen is a member of the CYO Swim Team. OBHS Celebrates Outstanding Athletes
The Spring Varsity Sports Season is in full swing. Many young athletes have distinguished themselves and some were chosen by the Oyster Bay High School coaches as Athletes of the Month for April, 2017. Girls’ Varsity Track Coach Kevin Cotter had this to say about his choice, “The Girls' track Athlete of the month is Eve Pace. Eve is both a scholar and an athlete, and balances her athletics and academics while excelling in both. She has scored in every league meet this season, has been a key component to her team's 9-2 record, and willingly runs in the events in which she is asked to run. Eve's attendance has been nearly perfect and she completes all workouts to the best of her ability without excuses. The example she sets is a good one for her fellow teammates to follow.
