  • Katherine Diaz is an All-State & All-American Wrestler

Oyster Bay High School Sophomore Katherine Diaz is a two-year Varsity wrestler on the Boys Varsity team.  Ms. Diaz has a very intense work ethic.  Katherine is one of the hardest workers in the wrestling room every day, who's dedication to this sport and team is nothing short of amazing.

Not only does Katherine work hard daily during our team practice, but she attends Vougar Honor Wrestling every night for a second practice.  Katherine has also wrestled in many outside tournaments, including Long Island Wrestling Association's Summer Heat Tournament at Hofstra University, and this year’s New York Wrestling Association for Youth (NYWAY) State Ladies' Tournament where she placed 4th, earning her All-State Honors.

Katherine is continuing her wrestling throughout the spring and summer and is planning on attending several different camps and clinics, as well as wrestling in more very competitive tournaments.

During the spring recess, Katherine competed in the War at the Shore National Tournament in Wildwood, NJ where she finished 2nd earning her All-American status.

Oyster Bay High School Varsity Wrestling Coach Doug Axman is being inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his Lifetime Service to wrestling. The induction is taking place on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Melville Marriott in Melville.
