    -The Counseling Department will be hosting three Mini-College Fairs for Juniors and Seniors (during the school day) over the next month on 9/11/19 from 10:30am-12pm, 9/18/19 from 12:45pm-2:15pm, and 9/25/19 from 8:30am-9:45am. Students will be escorted to the fair by teachers. The list of attending schools will be posted on the Counseling Department Page of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District website the Friday before each fair.  List of colleges attending 9-25-19 Mini College Fair.

    -To all students in grades 7 and 10: You will find the name of your newly assigned counselor on your schedule which can be accessed on the student/parent portal. Please call our office if you have any questions.

    -The Long Island office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand would like to inform students that the application for a nomination to a federal service academy is now live on the Senator’s website and must be completed by 10/25/19. For more information, visit: Nomination Page

    -The Senior Year College Information & Financial Aid Night will be held at OBHS on Tuesday, 9/24/19 at 7pm. The program will begin with a half hour presentation on financial aid followed by a presentation on the college application process.

    -Please be sure to register at ACT.org if you plan to take the ACT and register at Collegeboard.org if you plan to take the SAT. (*Seniors hoping to take another standardized test should register ASAP)

    -Oyster Bay provides all students with access to the Method Test Prep web-based platform for SAT and ACT prep. To create an account at no cost to you, visit: Method Test Prep

    -The PSAT will be held for all sophomores and juniors on Wednesday, 10/16/19 during the school day. All 10th and 11th grade students will be expected to take the exam. A letter will be mailed home to families with more information later this month.

    Local College Fair Information:

    -The Nassau Counselors’ Association Fall College EXPO will be held on Saturday, 9/14/19 from 12pm-3pm at SUNY Old Westbury. For more information, visit: Nassau Counselors College Expo

    • The School Counseling Department at Oyster Bay High School is committed to serving the social, emotional and academic needs of all the students in our school district. It is an integral part of every student’s education. Counselors work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and administrators to plan and implement programs that help students succeed as they progress through high school and plan for their future careers. Student development is supported through individual and group counseling, classroom lessons, and academic advisement as well as in consultation with teachers, parents, and the community.
