Photography students tour Gowanus with artist Rich Garr

This week, New York City became the classroom for some of our students. Mr. Boris and his photography students, along with Mr. Weber, took a day trip to Gowanus, Brooklyn, for an incredible street walk with master artist Rich Garr.
From exploring vibrant architecture and the hidden history of street art to watching a live graffiti artist in action, inspiration was at every turn. Students were also treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of a high-end photography printing shop to see how digital art comes to life.
Rich Garr is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn who specializes in collage and bringing art to the community. Every month, he hosts walking tours of Gowanus that feature all the art on the street, from graffiti to murals, infrastructure and architecture.
Our students returned to Oyster Bay brimming with ideas and look forward to channeling this energy into their upcoming media art projects.
