Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District named a Best Community for Music Education for 2026

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District is proud to announce that it has been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation for 2026, continuing the district's tradition of excellence in music education.
Now in its 27th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to ensure comprehensive music access and education for all students. To qualify, districts must provide detailed information about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities and support for both school-based and community music programs.
Ms. Erica Giglio Pac, Director of Fine, Performing and Media Arts, spoke to the significance of the honor and the community effort behind it: Being named one of the Best Communities for Music Education is a testament to the incredible synergy in our district. To our teachers: this award recognizes your tireless dedication. To our parents and community: thank you for your support and advocacy. And most importantly, to our students: your passion is the heartbeat of this program. You are the reason we strive for excellence, and your hard work is what makes this community truly 'the best.' This award belongs to all of us. It signals to the country what we already know – that our community values creativity, discipline and the joy of music-making as a fundamental right for every child!
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit organization supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 15,000 member companies and professionals. The foundation supports active participation in music-making across all ages through scientific research, philanthropic programs, and public service initiatives.
This national recognition reflects the district's strong belief in the value of music education and celebrates the combined efforts of educators, students, families, and the community in making music a vital and celebrated part of school life.
