OBHS Lacrosse Player Signs NLI to SCSU

Michela with mom and sister at NLI signing  Surrounded by family members and coaches, Oyster Bay High School senior   Michela Rutigliano has signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse for   the Owls at Southern Connecticut State University. Michela, a defender and   midfielder, has played varsity lacrosse at Oyster Bay High School since her   freshman year and helped the team compete in several county   championships.  She is an Unsung Hero award winner and has played travel   lacrosse for seven years.

 

Coach Rizzuto and Michela  “Michela is incredibly fast and athletic with really good game sense,” said Mr.   Charles Rizzuto, coach for Oyster Bay High School’s girls’ varsity lacrosse   team. “She is one of the hardest working student-athletes that I have been   lucky enough to coach and she is somebody that our younger players in the   program look up to."

 

 

Micheal and Mr. Cotter  A three-season athlete, Michela also excels in winter track and cross country,   coached by Mr. Kevin Cotter, and captains both teams. She recently earned   All-Conference in cross country for the 5th consecutive year and competed in   States five times. In winter track, she was named All County three times.

 

 A scholar-athlete, Michela takes a rigorous course load of advanced   placement  and college-level courses. She plays flute in symphonic band, is the publicity officer for National Honor Society, and is also a member of the Student Leadership Athletic Program (SALP) Interact Club, Birthday Wishes Club, and volunteers for Friday Friends to help special needs children bond with teen volunteers though various activities.
