Six Oyster Bay High School senior-athletes have committed to playing sports at the collegiate level next year. Varsity lacrosse player Kaitlin Pellechia will wear the emerald green and white for the Herons at Hobart William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York.

The lacrosse field behind James H. Vernon School has a new feature that helps protect athletes from the harmful rays of the sun. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Oyster Bay High School students Sean, Caleigh and Colin O’Toole — a junior, sophomore and seventh grader, respectively — two sun shields have been installed to fully cover the dugouts used by athletes during practices and games.
Nine teachers from the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District were awarded tenure during a formal ceremony at the May 7 Board of Education meeting. Speaking before family members and staff, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laura Seinfeld first described the stringent requirements for earning tenure and the significance of achieving this milestone.
Oyster Bay High School was full of excitement, May 1, as seniors and staff marked the college commitment deadline with the school's annual “Declaration Day.” The senior class and high school faculty wore their college sweatshirts and T-shirts bearing the names of their schools and proudly took a class photo to commemorate the event.
Foreign Language Honor Society
The Foreign Language Honor Society Tutoring Program is now available for students after school. Anyone needing some extra help in Spanish or French can fill out a request form in the Counseling Office or pick up a form from the language teachers.
