Vernon School Presents Alice in Wonderland, Jr.
Students from James H. Vernon School brought fantasy to life when they presented Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr., Feb. 14 and 15. The musical production consisted of two separate casts with one performing each night, providing an opportunity for more than 140 students to act, sing, dance, create and collaborate.
Brought to the stage by lead director Ms. Teriann Chiappardi and lead technical director Ms. Brittany Ford, with the assistance of Ms. Jillian Duval and Ms. Anna Sakellardis, the show took audiences on a journey through Alice’s madcap adventures after she falls down a rabbit hole to Wonderland. The musical featured classic songs, such as, I’m Late, In a World of My Own and A Very Merry Un-Birthday; a beautifully designed set and colorful costumes, produced with the help of volunteers.
“Many thanks go out to our directors for doing an excellent job in coordinating two separate shows, and to our casts and crews for all of their hard work,” said Fine and Performing Arts Supervisor Mr. Peter Rufa. “Thanks, also, to all who attended the show to support our students.”
Ms. Chiappardi added, “Thank you to our sixth graders for helping other cast members memorize their lines, practice their dance moves, and build their confidence on stage! Many of the sixth graders have participated in the Vernon play for the past two years. I am sad to see then move on, however I know they will continue their theater journey at Oyster Bay High School.”
Special thanks also went out to the Board of Education, staff and volunteers who helped make each show a success.
