It is the mission of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District to identify, use, evaluate and promote appropriate technologies to enhance and support instruction that leads to higher levels of student achievement. Through the use of technology, the district will provide for learner-centered environments that meet the diverse needs of our students and faculty. The district will utilize technological resources to stimulate, nurture, and develop the unique potential and character of each student and teacher. OBEN Technology Goals:
Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District Three Year Instructional Technology Integration Plan Technology integration is an interactive process. As technology is incorporated into the daily activities of students, teachers, administrators, nurses, secretaries and custodians, it will help to evolve the function of nearly every facet of the school community. As the technology, curricula and state mandates change, the uses and needs for technology will also change. The Guidelines for K-12 Technology Integration will be the basis for the curriculum projects. Student assessments and project evaluation tools will be developed accordingly. An overarching goal is to improve students’ skills in multi-media, creativity, and information technology. In order for all students to become informed about accurate information found on the internet and other electronic sources, we have involved all stakeholders in the planning process. This includes in particular, district leadership, our three technology instructors, our library media specialists as well as our tech support team members. We are mindful of internet safety and plan to continue working with our community to bring programs to parents on this crucial issue.
· For Oyster Bay High School, serving students in grades seven through twelve, sample projects are suggested. In addition, Oyster Bay High School has elective courses in which students use advanced technologies and/or in which technology is an integral part. There are several district-wide uses of technology: assistive technology, SmartBoards in the classroom; videoconferencing; library automa-tion; electronic databases; and on-line learning communities. |
